there’s a myriad of reasons to admire dan snaith, and his latest effort as caribou is certainly high on that list. our love creates a vast landscape of intertwining genres over the span of ten tracks, with snaith’s doctoral-level skills in logic bolstering high levels of creativity to yield arresting tracks like “can’t do without you” and “mars.” the album’s title track is also a particular force to be reckoned with, showcasing snaith’s propensity to veer from one stark musical idea to the next with complete ease and his ability to write one of the year’s best bass lines to boot. “our love” now comes complete with a music video, an appropriate accompaniment to the cinematic feel many of caribou’s songs take on. director ryan staake creates a beautiful yet heartbreaking nostalgic story from a third-person viewpoint and seems to capture the essence of snaith’s complex thoughts on the concept of love. watch below.
