donald glover’s childish gambino persona has been particularly divisive in the rap game from day one. his 2011 effort camp was alternately panned and praised, though his mixtapes and second album because the internet have experienced more consistently favorable reviews. regardless of the prevailing opinion, glover’s musical growth over the past four years is hard to ignore. on last fall’s kauai ep, gambino turned in a performance that was largely sung instead of rapped. the ep was supported by the psychedelic single “sober,” a track that now sports a hiro murai-directed music video. the clip once again finds gambino in a diner, but this time he’s trying to woo an apathetic young woman. check out the video for “sober” below.
