listen to a new song from two castles

eric charles christenson is still navigating the transition from his work as wisconsin built to his new material under the moniker two castles, but an identity is starting to take shape.  on “liquor,” the first of a handful of singles expected this summer, christenson wades through a murky drum beat while crooning the maudlin hook of “love me in the morning / drive me to the country.”  the first half of the track holds true to christenson’s minimalist tenets of songwriting, but it’s the juxtaposition of slow synth pads and the warped drum loop on its back half that helps “liquor” realize its full potential.  take a listen below.
