watch the music video for chairlift’s “ch-ching”

brooklyn outfit chairlift broke a three-year silence earlier this week with “ch-ching,” a swaggering new single that is quite the departure from the straight-ahead synth-pop that dominated 2012’s breakthrough something.  in the interim between that album and the duo’s forthcoming one, moth, caroline polachek had the good fortune of meeting beyoncé and penning “no angel,” one of the stronger cuts to appear on her acclaimed eponymous album that undoubtedly helped chart a new course for chairlift.  on “ch-ching,” polachek deftly weaves her vocal melody through patrick wimberly’s frequent off-beat horn stabs and hip-hop indebted drum programming to create an eerie atmosphere of slinking earworms, traits that are augmented by the track’s striking, highly-choreographed music video.  check out the clip for “ch-ching” below.
