detroit duo gosh pith will follow up their excellent 2015 debut ep, windows, with gold chain, out friday via b3sci records.  we heard the ep’s title track back in december and “k9” at the top of this month, and now gosh pith have let go of “new balance,” a swirling track featuring additional vocals by martez claybren that reads as their most abstract and dissonant effort to date.  take a listen to “new balance” below.

gosh pith will drop off their second ep, gold chain, at the end of the month via b3sci records. the duo’s amalgam of r&b, trap, and indie rock proves particularly effective in their latest single, “k9,” a slow-burning, bass-heavy jam with a purposeful half-time vocal hook delivered over the chorus.  the track’s music video dropped today; in it, director shane patrick ford follows a young love triangle that experiences some seedier sides of detroit’s underground scene before heroically escaping.  check out the clip for “k9” below.

detroit duo gosh pith navigated through a cosmic traphouse on their debut ep, window, earlier this year, extracting tenets of indie rock and dance music to craft a more contemporary strain of blue-eyed soul.  gosh pith will release another collection of songs early next year; “gold chain,” the first offering from that as-yet untitled ep, is a succinct love song of sorts.  a bit understated in comparison to the duo’s previous output, “gold chain” relies heavily on the juxtaposition of full, rolled guitar chords against busy, subdivided drums to supply all of the adequate pockets through which the vocal melody ebbs and flows.  take a listen to the track below.
